As we establish our own family community here in first grade, I wanted to share these important members of my family. I can't wait to learn about your families too!

What's all the barking about Wealand?

Hi! My name is Heather Wealand. I am so excited to be a part of your first grade experience! This is my seventh year in the Parkland School District and I am loving every minute of it! My experiences include one year as a learning support paraprofessional at Parkway Manor and two years experience as an Instructional Aid at both Kernsivlle and Jaindl.

I started my journey at Parkland as a Kratzer Elementary Cougar! From high school, I went on to attend college at Penn State University. I received my Bachelor's degree in 2012. I was also a member of the Penn State Women's Volleyball team from 2008-2011. Throughout my own educational journey, my love for teaching has grown and continues to each and every day! My experiences have enabled me to grow as a teacher and will continue to influence me as I help your child along their first grade journey!

When I am not partaking in the joys of teaching, I spend time with my family! My mother, Debbie Tice is an educational interpreter for the deaf and hard of hearing at Schnecksville Elementary School. My father, Rich Tice works for Alvin H. Butz as a Superintendent. I have two older brothers named Richie and Justin Tice. My oldest brother Richie lives in California. His work is primarily centered around sustainable farming and living. His conservative environmental mindset has been a huge inspiration to me. My brother Justin is a Genetics and Biology teacher at Whitehall High School. He is a true model of an educator and has been one of my inspirations as a teacher .

July 6th, 2013 was a special day. I married Jason Wealand and we are loving every minute of our new life together! As you have already seen above, we have a lot of dogs in our family! We love to go hiking and spending family time together as often as we can! Jason and I have two dogs, Oakley and Myla!

I feel incredibly honored and ecstatic about working with your first grader this year! I believe in creating a cooperative, respectful, and of course, FUN classroom environment where your child will thrive. This year will definitely be something to "bark" about!

Off for a hike at Trexler Nature Preserve!

Enjoying every "marry" moment with my family...
